Children and young people

Work with Children in the Woottons Some years ago I attended a large Christian festival. At the end of the weekend everyone was invited to worship together and I remember looking round the hundreds and hundreds of people who were there and noticing that every age was represented from tiny babies to toddlers, school children to teenagers through to young adults and people of very old age. I felt very strongly then that this was how God wanted his church to be with everyone feeling at home there, whether they were very young or very old. At the Church in the Woottons we are working hard to make sure people of every age can feel included in our Sunday services. Without in any way abandoning the very important traditions of our churches we are developing new services alongside the old to make our churches as easy to come to as possible for people, whatever their experience and expectation. For instance, at St Mary’s church we have just introduced a new service for people of all ages to attend where we hope there really will be something for everyone. During the service specific teaching will be offered both to the children and to the adults in different parts of the service. For the time being we have decided to amalgamate our ministry with children. In practice this means that ministry to children will be offered either at All Saints church in North Wootton, St Mary’s church in South Wootton or at Café Church, again in South Wootton. By encouraging children from the different congregations to come together we believe the children will benefit from being in greater numbers and we will make better use of the resources we have, to offer teaching and supervision. See alsoo the page "Which Church should I go to with our children?"
I am very grateful for all the good work that has been done in our work with children in the Church in the Woottons over many years. We aim to offer the young people in our care the very best teaching, care and nurture that we can and we invite you to consider bringing your children or grandchildren along to church if you don’t already do so.
