Welcome to our Church Community! Below you will find
some of the groups that are associated with our church.
For more information on how you can get involved with
these groups, please
contact The Rector.
Choir
The Woottons has a very active, lively and worshipful
choir group, with a good mix of male and female
choristers, ranging from 7 years old in Junior Choir to
more 'senior' members of the community. Junior
Choir meets at Thursdays 6.30pm during term time at St
Mary's, and Senior Choir on Thursdays 7pm at St Mary's
during Term time. Recent anthems
range from classical choral repertoire such as Elgar's
Ave Verum Corpus to more modern pieces, such as 'And He
shall protect thee' by Nardone, and Psalm 23, 'The
Lord's my Shepherd', arranged by Howard Goodall - up and
coming is 'Panis Angelicus' by Cesar Franck. Choir is
involved in mainstream Sunday Worship on the 2nd and 4th
Sundays, as well as participating in the annual Church
Carol Services and the Royal Church Schools of Music
Choir Festival at Norwich Cathedral. Despite our
seemingly serious repertoire, emphasis in the Choir is
very much to worship and praise God with a joyful and
glad heart, and all enthusiastic budding choristers of
all ages are welcome. Contact the Rectory for further
details.
Junior Church
Junior
Church welcomes children from 3 ½ -ish years old to
about 10 years old, and meets Sundays at 10am at All
Saints Church, North Wootton, with the first Sunday of
the month being in the service itself. There are
also activities for children at St Mary's Cafe on the
1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 10am in South
Wootton Village Hall, across the road from the church.
Mothers Union
The Mother's Union branch in the Woottons is lively and
active, and are always keen for new members to join us
for a wide range of activities and days out, as well as
helping in the Parish, and actively promote the
enjoyment and fellowship that is to be had from modern
Christian Motherhood.
Please contact the Rectory Office for details or use the
'Contact Us' page on this website for further
details.....
Scouting and Guiding
These
are very active in the Woottons. The local Scout Group
supports the church in practical ways such as occasional
repairs and providing a marquee and helpers for special
events. The Scout and Guide HQ is conveniently close to
All Saints’ Church, enabling Guides and Brownies to
attend family services on the second Sunday in the month
in term time.
Flowers
We have a separate team of flower arrangers for each
Church, who work closely with the Parish to brighten up
the Churches with displays of God's creation to decorate
His Churches.
Parochial Church Council
The Church in the Woottons has a joint PCC meeting, held
bi-monthly at St Mary's Church. We number about 24, and
aim to discern and facilitate the smooth running of all
aspects of Parish Life through input from all sectors of
the Parish - far from being 'old and crusty', our age
range for membership currently is from 18-70+!. This
ensures that each meeting is lively and faithfully
conducted!
Church Amblers
Usually held on the first Sunday afternoon of each
month, a group of lively and enthusiastic folk meet at a
local beauty spot to go for a gentle walk amongst the
Norfolk countryside, usually ending up at a local
'watering hole'. For further details of ambles, see the
church notice sheets or the Parish Magazine. |
