I was born in Somerset in 1944 but spent most of my childhood in Buckinghamshire
near Aylesbury. My father was a Church of England vicar and I went to St
John’s School Leatherhead, then St Catharine’s College Cambridge and finally
University College Hospital in London. I was a paediatrician at the QEH
for 27 years but before that Penny and I spent 4 years in Northern Nigeria,
where we went out with two children and came back with three.
I then worked for a further 4
years in Glasgow before getting my post in King’s Lynn. I recently worked
for three months in New Zealand between October 2008 and January 2009. I was a
church warden at St Mary’s for three years between 1989 and 92. I have
worshipped at the Church in the Woottons since coming to the parish in 1981 and
have been a chalice assistant in the last two years. My other interests are
Scottish dancing, fly fishing, natural history, and most recently golf.
