Born
in 1930, I joined the Royal Engineers in 1949 and enjoyed an adventurous
military career
before retiring
in 1985. I am
married to Elizabeth and we have three children
in their forties. On leaving the Army I helped the Leonard Cheshire Foundation
to convert a Victorian manor on the Royal Estate at Sandringham into a hotel for
disabled people, subsequently became General Manager and stayed for 10 years.
I
was
licensed as a Reader in 2000 after 3 years training and have been churchwarden
for 6 years. I coordinate the parish fundraising team and enjoy organising
events. I am chairman of a national charity supporting a large medical
enterprise in Bangladesh and local secretary for the Campaign to Protect Rural
England. I find lay ministry in the parish very fulfilling, while reading, golf
and hill walking are favourite recreations.
